Section 5 · Reflection

Check in
with yourself.

These questions are not graded. They're for you — to help you figure out when your AI use is working for you, and when it might be quietly working against you.

Honest answers only. There's nothing to perform here. The whole point of reflection is to catch the things you might not notice until you stop and look. Your teacher will give you a few minutes of quiet writing time for one of these — or you can use them all as an ongoing self-check.
01
🧠
After I finished, could I explain what I did in my own words?
If you can't, you may have borrowed understanding instead of building it. Try explaining it out loud — to yourself, a classmate, anyone. The gaps will show up immediately.
02
Did I try the hard part myself before asking AI?
The struggle is the learning. If AI was your first move — before you attempted anything — you may have skipped the most valuable part of the assignment without realizing it.
03
👁️
Did I actually read and think about what AI gave me?
Copying without reading is still copying. If you didn't pause to question, verify, or react to AI's output — if you just moved it from one place to another — it wasn't helping your learning.
04
🤝
Would I be comfortable showing my teacher exactly how I used AI?
If the answer is "not really," pay attention to that feeling. Not because of the rules — but because of what it tells you about whether the learning actually happened.
05
📈
Am I getting better at this subject — or just better at prompting?
Track yourself over time. Can you do more without AI now than you could a month ago? Or does the same work still require the same amount of AI help? That gap tells you something real.
06
When AI gave me an answer, did I question it?
AI makes mistakes — sometimes confidently, without any signal that something is off. Part of using it well is never fully trusting it. Did you check the important claims? Did you think critically, or did you just accept?
